You are invited to attend the Community Prevention Initiative (CPI) Professional Competency No-Cost Training titled Media Advocacy Basics, hosted by Humboldt County and facilitated by Dana Goodrow.
Training Description:
This practical, participatory workshop will teach you how to use a wide variety of media more effectively in environmental prevention campaigns. Special emphasis is placed on interactive Web-based strategies that are rapidly gaining influence, such as dynamic websites, blogging, Facebook, and Twitter.
About the Trainer:
A former nonprofit director, Dana Goodrow has master’s degrees in social work and public health, as well as an undergraduate degree and eight years’ experience in journalism. She has served as a consultant to organizations around the state of California on projects ranging from strategic planning to evaluation. Dana has provided consulting on behalf of the CARS Mentoring Technical Assistance Project, CPI, Grant Writing Specialists, and CalPartners. She was also a trained consultant for the “It’s Up To Me” media campaign funded by the California Office of Family Planning. She has planned and implemented statewide conferences, regional workshops, and online webinars; disseminated information about related issues and innovative practices to the field; and participated in national and state groups designed to improve collaboration among youth-serving agencies. Her areas of expertise include organizational capacity building, board development, strategic planning, social media, advocacy, evaluation, mentoring, and adolescent health.
