As a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) prevention professional, ethical situations arise involving service recipients, colleagues, external professionals, and stakeholders. This training will present ethical standards and an ethics decision-making process based on an accepted code of conduct developed specifically for the SUD prevention field. The training will examine each of the six principles identified in the Prevention Think Tank Code of Ethical Conduct, and will present a four-step decision making process that will assist the prevention professional in coming to an ethical solution.
Learning Objectives:
- Know the six principles in the Prevention Think Tank Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Describe practical situations and examples for each of the six principles.
- Understand why ethical conduct is critical to the success of a prevention professional.
- Apply the four-step process for decision-making involving an ethical situation.
