The Northern California Cannabis Summit, “A Public Health Perspective: Implementing Marijuana Legislation Using Best Practices,” will focus on providing participants with effective tools to assist in the prevention of youth marijuana use. Held in Tahoe-Truckee, the event will be open to policymakers, planners, public health partners, prevention and treatment professionals, stakeholders, coalitions, and others. Topics will include Proposition 64 and local ordinances, evidence-based and promising prevention practices, cannabis-impaired driving, and more.

The event will highlight presentations by experts with practical experience in other states that have legalized cannabis use. The featured speakers are: Chris Halsor, Colorado attorney and founder of Understanding Legal Marijuana and Green Labs; Ben Cort, former Director of Professional Relations at the Center for Dependency, Addiction and Rehabilitation (CeDAR) in the University of Colorado Health System; Victor Colman, attorney and health policy consultant in Washington State; and Erin Holmes, former research scientist at the Traffic Injury Research Foundation.
